Philanthropy officer

Are you a fundraiser with a passion for healthcare?

You will play an important part in building philanthropy at Moorfields Eye Charity to help meet the aims of our ambitious five-year business plan for growth, including securing philanthropic income for Oriel – our £100m joint fundraising campaign with UCL. Your work will also support world-leading eye research, and education along with patient care, to provide life-changing eye health for millions of people in the UK and around the world.

About the role

Your work managing a portfolio of prospects capable of making major gifts (£10k- £50k) will help us deliver our strategy. You will also create bespoke cultivation and solicitation plans that utilise medical staff, researchers, volunteers and senior leadership of Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL.

By developing materials to support the campaign and preparing proposals for individual prospects you will help develop our donor relationships. You will also ensure that gift pledges are fulfilled on schedule and prepare progress reports for donors.

This is a role that will require you to build strong relationships with consultants and researchers to gather information on health-related projects as well as gain their involvement in the identification, cultivation and stewardship of major donors.

About you

You will be a confident, self-starter with relationship fundraising experience or commercial experience, where you can demonstrate managing major funding relationships.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships and influence and lead others. You will be able to quickly absorb complex information and effectively communicate it to a non-academic audience.

Your ability to deliver excellent levels of supporter care and engage donors with Moorfields projects will be key to your success in this role.
