Philanthropy manager

Are you a senior relationship fundraiser with a passion for healthcare?

You will play an important part in building philanthropy at Moorfields Eye Charity to help meet the aims of our ambitious five year business plan for growth, including securing philanthropic income for Oriel – our £100m joint fundraising campaign with UCL. Your work will also support world-leading eye research, and education along with patient care, to provide life-changing eye health for millions of people in the UK and around the world.

About the role

This is a varied, highly collaborative and strategically focused role that will require you to work independently and confidently, developing important relationships with key colleagues, and senior stakeholders across the charity, hospital and UCL.

You will manage a mixed portfolio of individual, trust and foundation and corporate prospects capable of making significant gifts at the five, six and seven figure level to secure philanthropic support for the campaign and other funding priorities. You will devise effective cultivation and solicitation strategies.

You will be critical to the successful delivery of this campaign and to the charity’s wider and exciting growth ambitions and create a step change in the role of philanthropy across the partnership.

About you

You will be a confident, self-starter with significant relationship fundraising experience or commercial experience where you can demonstrate managing major funding relationships at the five, six and seven figure level. We are open to sector background.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships and influence and lead others. You will be able to quickly absorb complex information and effectively communicate it to a non-academic audience.

We are looking for a strategic candidate who can think creatively, plan, problem solve and implement decisions in a fast paced and evolving environment.
